Essential Oil Ingredients

At NaturalScents, we use over 30 separate pure essential oils which are sourced from all over the world from sustainable resources.

Pure essential oils are highly concentrated extracts from herbs, flowers, seeds, and trees, and are derived by a physical process, such as distillation or cold-pressing. These potent natural oils contain vitamins, hormone-like properties, minerals, and natural antiseptics.

If you are going to use essential oils it is best to get medical or professional advise before starting a regimen.  If you are pregnant please consult with your medical practitioner before using any oils. 

 

Benzoin

Benzoin is known as the cuddly essential oil. It has a sweet scent which will comfort people who are lonely, sad, depressed and bereaved. Valuable as a cold remedy and gentle enough for children.

Benzoin can also be used in steam inhalations, for treating asthma, bronchitis and coughs but overall it is a warming, soothing and mothering fragrance.

Theraputic properties include acting as an anti inflammatory, anti septic, astringent, carminative (settles digestion, ease gripe, relieves flattulance), deodorant, expectorant, sedative and styptic.

 

Bergamot

Bergamot is the sunny essential oil with a reviving, soothing and balancing frangrance which can be very useful in aiding the treatment of Seasonal Effective Disorder. Great for those cold grey winter days!

Bergamot has an affinity with the heart charkra, gently relieving sadness depression and grief.

Bergamot essential oil also has many theraputic properties including analgesic, antiseptic, antidepressant, antispasmodic, carminative, cicatrizant, deodorant, digestive, febrifuge, sedative, stomachic and tonic.

   
 

Cedarwood

Cedarwood has a woody masculine fragrance and can help instil confirdence and strengthen the energies. It is a fortifying, calming and opening scent and aids in the practise of meditation
and can also help you discover your inner strength and courage.

Great for calming nervous tension and stress but should be avoided during pregnancy.

   

Chamomile

A very calming and soothing oil and will cool most emotional over excitement, bringing a sense of inner calm.  The gentle action of chamomile can help with skin allergies and will calm, heal and soothe the skin condition while alleviating the cause of the allergy.  It is best mixed with a non irritating oil, cream or lotion base before using.

It is best to avoid in early pregnancy.

   
 

Frankincense

A deeply calming, revitalizing and uplifting oil full of warm, pungent sweet notes which it retains from the resins from which it was extracted. Part of its calming effect comes from its ability to help slow and deepen our breathing which in turn helps to reduce anxiety, nervous tension and stress.

In addition to being a great aid for meditation, Frankincense has remarkable healing and rejuvinating properties as a part of skin care regimen. Best of all its non-toxic, non-irritating and non sensiitizing so its safe for all skin types.

 

Geranium

Geranium essential oil has a soft, richly sweet aroma and will nurture and soothe your inner child and bring you a sense of inner peace. It is an uplifting oil and is reported to strengthen the
flow of energy thoughout the body. This essential oil will help to balance and calm those with a nervous tendancy.

 

Grapefruit

Full of clean, fresh and fruity notes Grapefruit is a revitalzing and refreshing essential oil. If you need a lift during the winter Grapefruit is a great choice.

Theraputic properties of Grapefruit include antidepressant, antiseptic, stimulant and tonic.

   
 

Jasmine

Jasmine has a wonderful floral fragrance that can inspire euphoria and helps to restore confidence and optimism. It is a warm scent which opens the emotions helping those who arehabitually
repressed. Jasmine is associated with intuitive wisdom and perception. It can be a useful aid for insight and meditation releasing inhibitions and liberating the imagination.

 

Juniper

Juniper berry essential oil is a powerful cleansing and puryfying oil. It can be very helpful when used for psychic and spiritual puryfying and works well as a meditation aid.

Lemon

Lemon essenitial oil is a radiant, reviving and stimulating fragrance. It can ""spring clean"" the mind and assist in making decisions bringing clarity and shedding light when the mind has become "
confused or unclear. Lemon is a great scent to help in meditation and preventing emotional outbursts.

 

Lemongrass

Fresh and sharp with a lemony fizz, the aroma of Lemongrass essential oil is instantly energizing! It is especially useful to get you going in the morning and a few drops sprinkled in the shower surrounds you with fresh, new energy. Lemongrass is also good for concentration and clear thinking, so useful in a burner when studying or meditating.

As a scent, Lemongrass has a pungent, fresh, lemon, haylike top notes with earthy, green grassy undertones. It will blend well with most citruses or florals, works well with marjoram, black pepper, rosemary and ginger.

Theraputic properties of Lemongrass include analgesic, antidepressant, antimicrobial, antiseptic, astrigent, bactericide, carminative, deodorant, febrifuge and insecticidal.

Lemongrass essential oil is non-toxic, however avoid using in baths or massage if you have sensitive or allergy-prone skin. It can be a mild irritant, even if you have normal skin.

   
   
   
   
 

Palmerosa

Palmerosa essential oil is a balancing refreshing and soothing. It is also a calming, uplifting and comforting and is very good for stress anxiety and restlessness.

Rose Damask 3%

Rose essential oil has a strong and passionate fragrance and will help comfort the heart and lift the spirit. It is a tender, uplifting and soothing aroma and will help to alleviate sorrow and disappointment, it is the first choice in treating many of the female reproductive problems.

Theraputic properties of Rose include antidepressant antiseptic, aphrodisiac, nervine, sedative, tonic and uterine.

Rose absolute essential is unusually expensive, so to keep costs down we use a 3% solution also known as Rose Damask,

 

Rosemary

Rosemary is for remembrance as the old saying goes. It is a stimulating, purifying and protecting fragrance and aids in meditation keeping the mind clear and alert. It is a psychic protector and is associated with the third eye chakra assisting in clear thought and inner vision.

Do not use during pregnancy and avoid if you suffer from epilepsy

Sandalwood

Sandlalwood is a small aromatic evergreen tree with a warm sweet and woody fragrance which will increase over time, its also known to be one of the
longest lasting scents.

Sandalwood as a fragrance is a very relaxing, uplifting and erotic scent and is also excellent for nervous tension and depression. Great for use in massage or in a bath.

As with many essential oils, Sandalwood has many theraputic properties including acting as an antidepressant, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, astringent, bacericide, expectorant and sedative.

Ylang Ylang

An intensly sweet smelling oil which blends well with other florals and citruses. Ylang Ylang can be contradictory in that it can help calm, uplift and create a sense of peace or bring out fiery passion and release inhibitions.

Ylang Ylang also has a number of desirable theraputic properties including antidepressant, antiseptic, aphrodiciac, hypotensive and sedative.

Ylang Ylang oil is non-toxic, non irritant and non sensitizing, so is safe for all skin types. Use only in small amounts if you are prone to headaches asthis oil has a
stong aroma and can trigger an attack.
